Reports of a ghostly steam train on the Northern Line, specifically between East Finchley station and Wellington sidings, may have a rational explanation. Departmental steam engines operated on the London Underground until 1971, and an experimental locomotive known as 'Fowler's Ghost' was also tested in the area.
