A dispute over architect Ernő Goldfinger's plan to demolish a cottage in Finchley in 1939 to build his own home led to a literary feud with author Ian Fleming. Fleming later used Goldfinger's name for a villain in his 1959 novel, resulting in an out-of-court settlement.
