Zinedine Zidane has been confirmed as the new head coach of the France national team. The appointment follows the conclusion of Didier Deschamps' 14-year tenure, which ended after France's exit in the semi-finals of the 2026 World Cup. He took over the first team in January 2016 and led them to three consecutive Champions League titles, a feat not achieved in the Champions League era since Bayern Munich in 1976. His final professional match was the 2006 World Cup final, where he was sent off in extra time.
