UKHSA issues amber heat health alerts for London and three regions until 31 July

The UK Health Security Agency has issued amber heat health alerts for London, the East Midlands, the East of England, and the South East. The alerts will remain in place until 09:00 on Wednesday 31 July. The Met Office forecasts temperatures could reach 35°C on Monday, with highs of 28-30°C expected on Tuesday before conditions ease later in the week.

Yellow heat health alerts are also active for the North West, South West, West Midlands, and Yorkshire and the Humber. The UKHSA warned that the high temperatures could increase pressure on the NHS, as more vulnerable people may require medical treatment. Residents are advised to take precautions such as staying hydrated, avoiding the sun during the hottest part of the day, and keeping homes cool.
