TfL proposes to cut 149 bus frequency and withdraw 67 route in North London

Proposed changes

TfL announced on 24 July 2026 that it intends to alter the 149 route so that buses no longer run to Edmonton Green but terminate at Wood Green. At the same time the 67 service linking Dalston and Wood Green would be withdrawn. The operator says the weekday peak frequency on the 149 would be cut from seven to eight minutes between buses. TfL states that there is surplus capacity on the A10 and A1010 corridors, which it says justifies the adjustments.

Public response

Residents in Edmonton and surrounding parts of Enfield have launched a petition opposing the proposals. The campaign was started by Denzel's World, who said most locals depend on buses because the area lacks Underground links. The petition argues that losing the 149’s current northern end would force passengers to change buses multiple times to reach central London.

Next steps

The public consultation on the proposed changes remains open until Sunday 20 September 2026. TfL says it will review feedback before deciding whether to implement the adjustments. If approved, the revised 149 service and the removal of the 67 route would take effect after the consultation period ends.
