The three deceased individuals have been identified by the King County medical examiner as Junior Cee Niko Semo, 19, Carlos Israel Sanchez Villalba, 44, and Ashley Whitehead, 56. Police believe Semo was involved in the exchange of gunfire. Two deaths were confirmed at the festival site, with the third victim passing away in hospital.

The shooting took place on the final day of the annual three-day Bite of Seattle festival, an event that typically attracts approximately 350,000 attendees. Videos circulating online depicted festival-goers seeking shelter on the ground behind various structures within the Space Needle's lobby during the incident. Witnesses described scenes of panic and flight as shots rang out.

Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson described the event as an "act of horrific violence" during a news conference on Monday. Washington Governor Bob Ferguson expressed his condolences on social media, offering prayers for the victims' families and the emergency responders.

Legal proceedings

The 15-year-old suspect, who has not been named due to their age, waived their initial court appearance on Monday. According to local media reports, the teenager has been remanded in custody while awaiting trial.
