US television presenter Savannah Guthrie has issued an emotional appeal for her mother's abductors to reveal her location. Nancy Guthrie was last seen on 31 January near Tucson, Arizona. Investigators believe she was taken from her home against her will. Two ransom notes have been sent to the family and news outlets following the abduction.
An ongoing investigation
The Pima County Sheriff's Department has confirmed that their investigation into Nancy Guthrie's disappearance remains active and ongoing. Law enforcement has been investigating the abduction for months, with assistance from the FBI. Authorities previously released images of a masked individual who obscured a camera at Nancy Guthrie's residence before she went missing. Nancy Guthrie requires daily medication and vanished after being dropped off at her home by relatives on the evening of 31 January. She failed to attend a planned virtual church service the following morning.

Ransom notes and family anguish
Following Nancy Guthrie's disappearance, two ransom notes believed to be credible were sent. The first note demanded millions in Bitcoin for her release and contained specific details about her home and its surroundings, investigators told CBS News. A second note, sent days later, claimed she had died, according to US media reports citing unnamed sources. Savannah Guthrie has stated that some notes received by the family were believed to be fake and has expressed that her mother may no longer be alive. In a recent video, Savannah Guthrie addressed the abductors, stating, "It has been months since our mum was taken from us. Our family is in agony. We are in a nightmare that will not end." She pleaded, "Help us bring this situation to an end. For all of us, no matter where we've been and what we've done, I believe there is always a way home. Please make the right choice."
