Royal Mail trials electric cargo cycles in London

The Minimal Pedal 4 is a zero-emission cycle intended to assist Royal Mail in meeting its goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2040. As reported by Time Out London, the design is also expected to potentially increase delivery efficiency by providing each postal worker with their own dedicated vehicle, streamlining routes.

A notable feature of the Minimal Pedal 4 is that postmen and women will not require a driving licence to operate them. This could open up employment opportunities to a wider pool of candidates, according to Mark Riley, Royal Mail's delivery design manager, as stated in the Time Out London report. Riley also commented that the new cycles will help reduce emissions and improve air quality in the communities served.
