An author has reported witnessing a highly successful breeding season for hares. Nature-Friendly Farming Practices
The farmland in question is managed by a farmer who prioritises nature as part of his land management strategy. The fields are described as relatively small and undulating, with wide margins and areas of wildflower mixes dedicated to birds and pollinators. These practices ensure continuous habitat and sustenance for various species, including insects, field voles, badgers, deer, and hares. The author received a message from the farmer detailing a wildlife update, prompting a visit to the location.

Hare Characteristics and Persecution
The author described the hares observed as having a striking appearance, with a lean physique and alert, all-seeing eyes. Hares are identified as among the most persecuted wild mammals. The practice of coursing, described as a 'sport', is reportedly experiencing a surge in popularity, influenced by international organised crime. Despite these threats, the hares in this particular landscape appeared undisturbed, moving with a calm pace through their environment.
