Photographer Documents Life in South Tyrol Monastery

Photographer Roland Reinstadler has documented the secluded existence of clergy within the Lanegg monastery, located in South Tyrol. The monastery is affiliated with the Teutonic Order, an organisation with a long history. Reinstadler's photographic project captures various facets of life inside the institution, including its established traditions, religious ceremonies, and the day-to-day routines of both the priests and nuns who reside there.

Access to a Cloistered Community

Gaining entry to the Lanegg monastery, which operates as a cloistered community, provided Reinstadler with a unique opportunity. The photographs produced from this access aim to illustrate the distinct way of life within the monastery's walls. This includes visual records of the spiritual practices and the communal living arrangements that define the environment for its inhabitants.
