A do-it-yourself book swap library in Palmers Green was taken from its location outside a home but was returned within two days. The library, constructed by David Melkman and his daughter, was reported missing after being seen being carried away from the property. Neighbours alerted Mr Melkman after observing the incident.

Community Effort to Locate Library

Mr Melkman had installed the bookcase, a project initially undertaken for a school assignment focused on community connection, outside his house a few months prior. The theft prompted a swift response from the local community. Several neighbours witnessed the library being removed and shared details through a community WhatsApp group. This collaborative effort allowed residents to track the individual responsible.
