Mount Stewart Junior School pupils raise £2,000

Pupils at Mount Stewart Junior School have successfully raised £2,000 for Riya's Rainbows, a charity dedicated to assisting children with serious illnesses and families experiencing bereavement. The funds were generated through the school's yearly Enterprise Initiative, which saw Year 6 students engage in entrepreneurial activities.

Annual Enterprise Initiative

The Enterprise Initiative is a key part of the school's curriculum, encouraging pupils to develop business concepts, manage financial resources, and create items for sale. Students worked collaboratively to produce crafts, games, and food items, with parents providing support in product preparation and at the community sales event. This project aimed to demonstrate how classroom skills can be applied to achieve tangible outcomes beyond the school environment.

The charity, based in Harrow, provides support to local children and families facing critical health challenges or grieving a loss. Geeta Hirani, Riya’s mother and a founder of the charity, conveyed gratitude for the school's efforts, stating that the donation would significantly aid their work with vulnerable families.
