The Dreadnought programme is a significant undertaking, currently supporting an estimated 47,000 jobs and apprenticeships across the country. This figure is projected to grow to 65,000 by 2030. The first submarine in the class, HMS Dreadnought, is expected to become operational by the mid-2030s, coinciding with the retirement of the existing Vanguard submarines.

Mr Burnham plans to highlight the investment as part of a broader strategy to reindustrialise Britain and address youth unemployment. He is also expected to launch a new apprenticeship scheme aimed at creating approximately 30 roles over the next three years, primarily in the north west of England.
