Northern Line Disruption Hits High Barnet

Southbound services on the Northern Line are suspended between East Finchley and Archway after a person was struck by a train at Highgate. Highgate station has been closed as a result of the incident, which occurred on Wednesday morning. Transport for London (TfL) stated that the station was expected to remain closed until at least 11am. Northbound trains can pass through Highgate, but passengers are unable to disembark.

Commuters also faced significant disruption on the Victoria Line, which experienced severe delays due to a track fault at Highbury & Islington. Additionally, major London train terminals Charing Cross and Waterloo East are shut for three weeks as part of a £20 million upgrade by Network Rail. These closures, affecting Southeastern services, will continue until Sunday, 16 August, with trains diverted to other London stations.

Archway Station Reopens

Archway station experienced a temporary closure due to overcrowding, as passengers sought alternative southbound services on the Northern Line. TfL announced the station was open for exit only at 9.48am, before reopening for boarding trains by 10.03am. TfL confirmed that tickets are being accepted on local bus services for affected passengers.
