Zoo breeds 300 near-extinct snails for reintroduction

Chester Zoo conservationists have successfully bred 300 Madeiran lands snails, a species believed to be near extinction. The tiny snails, measuring no more than 8mm, were reintroduced to Portugal's Bugio Island after a perilous cliff-climbing operation.
