A cat named Hibiscus has spent over eight months in the care of the RSPCA Friern Barnet Adoption Centre and is still waiting to find a permanent home. She arrived at the centre in January after being discovered as a stray animal who was underweight and suffering from considerable fur loss.
Although Hibiscus has fully recovered from her initial health issues, she is now the longest-staying cat at the adoption centre. She is currently being looked after in foster care and requires a specific type of home environment to thrive.

Seeking Patient Adopters
Georgina Holding, rehoming supervisor at the centre, stated that Hibiscus is a friendly and curious cat who enjoys exploring. However, Ms Holding explained that Hibiscus does not favour constant physical contact and prefers affection on her own terms, requiring gentle handling. The centre is searching for adopters who understand and respect her need for independence and space as she adjusts to a new home.
Ms Holding added that potential adopters need to be experienced cat owners prepared to offer the stable routine Hibiscus requires. The RSPCA is hopeful that Hibiscus will find her perfect match during its Adoptober campaign, which aims to highlight animals needing homes and encourage adoptions. The charity is currently experiencing a high number of cats and kittens needing care across its centres and boarding facilities due to limited space.
