Edgware man launches audio service to capture family memories

Michael Rosenbluth, from Edgware, has launched a personal audio storytelling service named Voices of a Lifetime. The venture was inspired by his regret over not fully capturing his father Colin's memories before his death in 2018. Mr Rosenbluth realised he had missed the opportunity to record the experiences that shaped his father's life.

Mr Rosenbluth stated that he and his father had often discussed his life and career, but he wished he could hear those stories again with a new perspective. This regret prompted him to ask his mother, Fay, if she would record her own life story, a proposal she accepted.

Mother's Life Story Recorded

The initial recording with Fay Rosenbluth lasted two hours and covered her childhood in West Hampstead, her school days, family holidays, and the years spent raising Michael and his brother in Stanmore. The conversation also included details about how she met Colin, their engagement, and their family life.

The interview also explored songs that held particular significance for Fay, creating what Mr Rosenbluth described as her own version of "Desert Island Discs." The conversation encompassed various life chapters, including holidays, family celebrations, career changes, and the life lessons she wished to impart.

Service Expansion

Following the sharing of his mother's recording with friends and family, Mr Rosenbluth received requests to assist others in preserving their loved ones' stories. Voices of a Lifetime now provides guided interviews, conducted either in clients' homes or remotely, designed to be relaxed and comprehensive.

Mr Rosenbluth advised that for those fortunate enough to still have living parents, preserving their memories is of paramount importance. He urged individuals to ask questions now, before it is too late, as opportunities to hear life stories will eventually cease.
