A darker tone for Peter Parker

Brand New Day follows Peter Parker four years after the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home. In that film, a spell erased the world’s memory of Peter’s identity. Holland told the Press Association at the premiere that the film takes a more serious approach. He said the team wanted to show Peter’s vulnerability and tackle real-life issues. These include loneliness and the challenges of living in a digital age where connections often happen online.

Holland first played Spider-Man in 2016’s Captain America: Civil War. He became the youngest actor to take a title role in a Marvel Cinematic Universe film with Spider-Man: Homecoming. The sequels, Far From Home and No Way Home, each earned over $1 billion worldwide. No Way Home was the highest-grossing film of 2021.
