MP demands flag removal from Barnet lamp posts

The MP stressed that public spaces should be inclusive and accessible to everyone.

National context of flag displays

The Barnet Post reported that the MP linked the flag displays in Temple Fortune to a wider national trend. Since August 2025, far-right groups, including those associated with Operation Raise the Colours, Britain First, and Stephen Yaxley Lennon, have been actively displaying flags in prominent locations across the country. While Operation Raise the Colours has not explicitly claimed responsibility for the flags in Barnet, the MP noted that they were erected on public property without authorisation. The Barnet Post also stated that council contractors faced abuse when attempting to remove some of the flags.
